Why Chinese?

Exposure to Chinese language and culture is an incredible, lifelong gift. Learning Chinese, even for a short period, cultivates empathy and enthusiasm for other cultures, and opens doors to a myriad of career and extra-curricular opportunities. The number of UK schools offering Chinese is growing every year, and learners are often surprised at how easy Chinese is. Being a non-native speaker of Chinese is an accomplishment which sets students apart from their peers.

So, please contact us for a chat or book one of our teaching team for a taster session – we would love to meet your students!

Services at Secondary Level

Teaching on Curriculum

With our help, your school can introduce Chinese with full confidence, and grow the program at your own pace. Our role is to provide you with excellent Chinese teachers and resources according to your needs. Dragons’ schools have had excellent success at GCSE and all our teachers are trained teach effectively at secondary school level.

After-school GCSE classes

These classes have been set up to meet the growing demand for Chinese lessons from schools who are unable to fit Chinese onto the curriculum at the present time. Typically, students will have 2 hours teaching per week, with the same homework commitments as a normal curriculum class. Dragons offers flexibility in terms of the teaching times.

School Trips to China

The best way for students to fully appreciate the relevance and value of their Chinese abilities is by visiting China. All students learning Chinese will be able to visit China – Beijing or Shanghai – usually in the second year of GCSE. The trip will give students the opportunity to practise their language, but it will also widen their experience of foreign cultures, traditions and history.
