In-house teaching

Project background

Ibstock Place School is an independent co-educational day school for pupils aged 4 -18 located in Roehampton, south-west London. Last year, the school’s Chinese teacher had to have extended leave due to a serious illness, meaning that the four students studying for their Pre-U Mandarin exam in the upcoming spring were left without any structure. Ibstock Place School knew about Dragons Teaching as they have used our textbooks for some time, so they got in touch to see if we could help.

How Dragons Teaching were able to help

Melody, one of our fantastic Mandarin teachers, taught the students through video conferencing software. She was able to continue the students’ curriculum for the six weeks that the school’s own teacher was on leave. The total timeframe from the initial phone call from the school to Dragons Teaching, to the teaching of the first lesson, was one week.

In total, we provided 26 hours of teaching over a five-week period to the four students (spread across both lower and upper year groups), with Melody setting and marking the students’ assignments in between.

‘Thank you very much! Melody has been so organised with setting and marking work and the pupils have been so appreciative – I cannot imagine it could have worked better, so huge thanks to you all at Dragons and especially to Melody… It is such a relief to everyone that they have continued to make steady progress this term.’
