Why Dragons at Primary?

With our help, your school can introduce Chinese as a modern foreign language with full confidence, and without the teething issues of establishing a new subject at your school. You can gauge interest and student achievement, and grow the programme at your own pace. Many schools have had such a positive experience that they have used us for over 5 years!

We have had more than 10 years’ experience teaching Chinese to non-native speakers of all ages. All of our teachers are trained in Dragons’ teaching methods and pedagogy, and all use our own textbook and online series. Our books have been written to provide an accessible yet solid foundation for learners of all abilities. Our approach is fun and interactive, designed to spread our own passion for Chinese language and culture.

Our Schools

Dragons has partnered with over 500 schools in the last 10 years. Each year we work with 50-100 schools, the majority of whom have Chinese on their curriculum.  Click here for a list of schools that already use Dragons.

Timings

We strive to meet all the expectations of a busy school timetable and start with your needs when scheduling. However, we also need to ensure that our teachers have a sensible timetable which does not involve too much travel; given this, we will always ask for maximum flexibility before agreeing on a timetable slot for the year.

1 hour per week is the minimum teaching required; typically, our primary schools devote 1-4 hours per week, depending on learning goals. Our lessons are charged on a pro rata basis i.e. 2 classes of 40 minutes is charged on a pro rata rate of 1 hours, 20 minutes.

Our Teachers

We have over 50 teaching staff. We recruit our teachers from mainland the UK, China, Taiwan, Singapore, the United States and Australia. Our teachers are a well-balanced mixture of native and non-native teachers, which enables us to provide different kinds of teachers for different types of teaching initiatives. Wherever possible, we recruit teachers experienced in UK teaching methods. This enables our teachers to fit quickly into a new school environment.  Click here to see what our teachers say about teaching with Dragons!

Teaching Resources

Our books have been written to provide an accessible yet solid foundation for learners of all abilities. Our approach is fun and interactive, designed to spread our own passion for Chinese language and culture. Click here to see our primary school-focused textbook and online resources.

Progress and Evaluation

Dragons develops half-termly reports that show the improvement and progression thoughtout the year. We collect the data from the online system where students are able to complete homework and play fun online activites that improve their learning. Dragons aligns homework to the school’s needs and timing requirements.
