My Week in China

A fun, engaging Chinese week for Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils, perfect for Chinese New Year, post-exam enrichment or summer activities

‘My Week in China’ is a tried and tested week-long enrichment programme which introduces pupils to Mandarin and Chinese culture.

Pupils learn through our all-in-one encrypted e-learning platform, DragonsConnect, where they receive live, virtual lessons from the teacher and engage in interactive exercises to consolidate their learning.

For one hour each day, classes are split into four small, manageable groups. Two groups spend 30 minutes learning in the online classroom with two teachers (one per group), while the other two groups work independently through fun, interactive activities. Halfway through the lesson, the groups swap.

Lessons take place with the same teachers at the same time, each day, to provide consistency and routine. My Week in China is typically delivered as 5 one-hour lessons over the course of one week.

For a total cost of £490+VAT per class (maximum 32 pupils per class), Dragons Teaching will provide two fantastic Mandarin teachers, access to DragonsConnect and an end-of-course certificate for each pupil.

Blended Learning

Students spend 30 minutes learning introductory Mandarin from one of our friendly, expert teachers online before completing fun, interactive exercises on DragonsConnect. In our 15 years of experience we have seen how this style of learning increases pupil engagement.

Professional Teaching

Our teachers are fully trained and meet all safeguarding requirements, while our enrichment programme is aligned with genuine academic curricula. We can provide the whole learning package, taking the stress off schools.

Measurable Progress

Pupils collect virtual coins as they navigate the course, reflecting their level of engagement and success. This provides real tracking data for your school to measure their progress.

Our experience of Dragons was excellent and has increased our numbers in the Mandarin Excellence Programme from 15 to over 20. We would definitely want to work with Dragons again with our new Year 7s.

Our Year 7s really enjoyed their special Mandarin day working with Dragons Teaching. Our pupils immensely enjoyed the interactive lessons using their iPads, learning numbers, greetings and all about Chinese zodiac animals.

We had many “firsts” during this excellent programme. For many pupils, it was their first time to write in Mandarin, speak in Mandarin, and interact with native Mandarin speakers. Since this programme, our pupils have been able to interact in Mandarin with their Mandarin teacher with confidence, and their Chinese character handwriting has seen huge improvement.

Our Mandarin class at Finham Park 2 has grown as more and more pupils have expressed an interest in learning Mandarin. And that is all thanks to Dragons Teaching and their fantastic learning experience.

Dragons have been very well received – the staff are knowledgeable, approachable and have very good classroom presence. They make the lessons fun, whilst ensuring that the girls learn. The enthusiasm of the girls is outstanding – they really enjoy the lessons and also the interactive resources outside class.
