Connect Clubs
An interactive language club for pupils after school. Aimed at Year 3 and above.
Start your Dragons journeyConnect Club is a great after-school provision for young pupils keen to get stuck into learning a new language and is easy to integrate with a school’s existing co-curricular programme. We can offer Connect Club in all of our taught languages (Spanish, French, Mandarin and Arabic).
Pupils spend half of the club time benefitting from real-time teaching in the online classroom, involving interactive whiteboards and quizzes. The remainder of the club time is spent on the language-relevant e-learning platform (e.g. DragonsConnect, AmigosConnect, FrenchConnect or ArabicConnect, navigating through interactive activities that range from simple matching games to reading/listening exercises, introducing grammar, vocabulary and culture. The platform is fun and engaging for pupils to use, rewarding success with virtual badges.
We provide only the best foreign language teachers to our schools. Our teachers are a mixture of native and non-native teachers and, given the online nature of the delivery, are physically located all over the world! The majority are currently teaching or have taught their chosen language in schools, and appreciate our focus on quality, engagement and reporting. They possess rich first-hand experience teaching online and undergo rigorous background checks to ensure safeguarding and professional delivery.
**Our Spanish, Mandarin and Arabic clubs all give students the opportunity to attain a certificate in the new Global Online Assessment in Languages (GOAL). It is based on 10 hours, which is the typical length of a club term**.
How does Connect Club work?
Connect Clubs are available any day after school. The only requirements are:
- Broadband connection
- 1 x PC/Mac/Tablet per student OR via an interactive whiteboard
- Ideally 1 x headphone with mic per student OR via an interactive whiteboard
- 1 member of school staff to supervise the class
All of the classes and interactive exercises are hosted on our own bespoke platform, which includes a secure shared view for the teacher-led lesson. We also work with Zoom, Teams and GoogleMeet.
