Marcus fell in love with China in 2006, while living with a Chinese family in Shanghai and learning Mandarin. He set up Dragons to spread his passion for Mandarin Chinese. At the same time as managing the company, Marcus still teaches Chinese every week, as he never wants to lose the spark of education.

Julian Drinkall

Non-executive Chairman

Julian brings a wide experience of leadership in education and publishing. As CEO of the Academies Enterprise Trust (AET), a UK-based group of primary and secondary schools,  Julian is deeply passionate about excellence in education.

Nick Bray

Senior Advisor – Strategy

Nick has spent over 15 years in the international education sector, where his experience includes management, investment and strategic financial advisory roles across a number of businesses. Prior to this, he worked in accountancy and investment banking for multinational organisations such as KPMG, Bankers Trust and NM Rothschild & Sons. He has a degree in French and Spanish and is also fluent in Portuguese, having lived in Brazil for over 5 years.

Dr Helen Wright

Senior Advisor – Education

Helen brings extensive global experience in education as a former Head of 3 leading schools, and a non-executive director of a number of educational organisations in the UK and abroad. She is currently working with schools across the world to challenge leaders to think innovatively about futures-focused education; and as an educator who studied for her first degree in languages at the University of Oxford she is particularly passionate about learning without borders.

Harick Ng

Head of Chinese Teaching

Harick first started with Dragons teaching Mandarin Chinese to primary and secondary schoolers and tutoring adults online in classes and one to one. A native Mandarin Chinese speaker – amongst several other Chinese dialects – Harick always dreamed of a career in education after a background in hospitality and marine tourism, where his first teaching experience was training people to scuba dive in Malaysia.

Mara Voicu

Business Development

Mara brings her global experience to the Dragons team, having attended school in China and graduating from the prestigious Peking University in Beijing. Fluent in English, Romanian and Mandarin, Mara has previously worked in the private sector to drive growth through maintaining client relationships as well as working as a tutor to help young learners on their language journey.

Ben Mason

Business Development

Ben initially read Classics at university before falling in love with China through martial arts. After an intense postgraduate Mandarin course he went to China for 4 months and stayed for 8 years, gaining another degree in Chinese before moving to Beijing. He has worked in communication and business development roles since then and, once back in the UK, completed a PGCE in Mandarin before joining Dragons.

Alex Peek

Business Development

Alex holds a BA in German, Russian and Spanish from the University of Exeter. He has a solid operational, marketing and sales background from a leading London tech start-up dedicated to safeguarding children on social media platforms. Alex’s mission is to help improve the lives of children through technology.

Adam Ennis

Business Operations Manager

Adam has 10 years’ experience in international education working in a variety of roles including school management operations and business development. Adam lived and worked in China for much of this time, running the franchise operations division for a chain of English language schools and subsequently acting as the Chief Representative for Bell Educational Services in China. A strong Mandarin speaker, Adam recently relocated back to the UK and is excited to join Dragons Teaching at this exciting time in its development.    

Amelia Goff

Business Support

Amelia studied Fashion Contour at the London College of Fashion. While not from a languages background, Amelia’s previous experience provided her with keen insight into working with Chinese and international companies. She deeply understands the need to develop language skills in the era of globalisation, while being able to help children develop and succeed in the global arena is highly important to her. Amelia joined Dragons Teaching due to the innovative language programmes which aids this endeavour

Gemma Bedlow

Buisness Support

Gemma graduated from the University of Leeds with a History degree. While she brings her previous logistic and administrative experience for a leading global healthcare company to Dragon’s business support team, Gemma has always had a love for culture and travel after a language immersion trip to Japan aged 12; this experience has made her keen to encourage children to broaden their horizons and expand their world through languages.
