Dragons Teaching Certification
As a centre for excellence in teaching languages, Dragons aims to lead the way in language teaching pedagogy. Our two teacher training programmes are designed around student engagement and effective use of resources.
Dragons Inspire is offered to primary school teachers without a background in their chosen language. It enables teachers to introduce beginner courses to their students with confidence.
Dragons Specialist is provided to all Dragons teachers to equip them with the techniques they need to teach effectively and grow as a teacher.
Dragons Inspire is designed for primary school teachers without prior knowledge of their chosen language.
We can help primary school teachers introduce languages into the classroom. Our Dragons Inspire programme will make you a confident teacher and includes our own helpful interactive resources.
The programme consists of two training sessions at your school:
- Session One: an introduction to the language, resources and support network offered by the Dragons Inspire Programme. Following the session, trainees begin to teach a beginners language course. Trainees have access to all of our bespoke resources and will receive regular support throughout the first year.
- Session Two: a classroom observation, usually conducted after 10 hours of teaching. We will provide feedback on your lesson and you will have the opportunity to ask further questions about the course and resources.
The Dragons Inspire Certificate is awarded after 20 hours of teaching.

Dragons Specialist helps Dragons teachers become language specialists.
Existing Dragons teachers have the opportunity to take the Dragons Specialist programme, which will form the backbone of your professional development. This programme is taught by experienced instructors and closely aligned with national teaching standards. You will learn how to teach your chosen language with modern, interactive techniques and will receive observations and evaluations throughout the programme.
The Dragons Specialist Certificate is awarded after 100 hours of teaching.
